Guest guest
Can you describe the headache? Where does it hurt? What type of pain? Does he wake up with it or does it come on later in the day? Does it go away during the day? Is it worse with the seasons? Is he sensitive to light & noise? There are many types of headaches and many causes. One common cause among CMT patients is C02 retention related to breathing weaknesses. If he wakes up with the headache and it's worse in the morning, then eases up during the day, it may be C02 retention. In that case, a sleep study would be a good idea. The headaches could also be related to his back/neck/shoulder issues. If you'd like to provide more detail, we can share related experiences. Guest guest
Maybe your husband is out of ailment and should see a well known Chiropractor? I know that has helped me. Kay~Seaside Oregon
Guest guest
I would suggest the same as I work for a chiropractor and he treats a lot of patients for headaches with much success. There is always the chance that there is another underlying condition, but it is worth trying. Teri
Guest guest
Well I have CMT and I also had horrible migraines at the worst possible times (like ten minutes before a job interview!) Once I stopped drinking coffee and chocolate, the headaches became less and less frequent, gradually diminishing to zero in the last 8 years. Making those changes was a good choice for me. Migraines sent me immediately to bed in a dark room with a cold cloth on my head. If I got up too soon, I was nauseous. I had two head injuries in my teens and 20's - it seemed like the migraines came on after that. One scan of my brain showed enlarged brain ventricles. The jury was out on whether I was born that way or it was from the trauma. However, three neurologists concluded these headaches were not CMT related at all. Guest guest
I have headaches. I think they are caused from looking down at the ground all the time. I went to the chiropractor for x rays and treatment. After 4 weeks of seeing him twice a week my head aches are much better. With me my neck, disks are messed up a bit. They cause the area to swell and that blocks off the circulation. I loose much needed blood and my spinal fluid has a hard time getting to my head. All that equals headache. I LOVE my chiropractor. Another thing that helps is a headache medicine with a neck muscle relaxer.
Guest guest
I stay away from all caffeine. I get so sick if I drink it.
Guest guest
I'm not sure if migraines are CMT related or not. My experience with migraines I really believe was from my neck/back being out of alignment/pinched nerves. I had all the symptoms--sensitive to light/sound, vomiting, severe weakness while having one. These symptoms could last for hours!! I started having them when I was around five years old and had them up until I had three of my four children. When I was little the doctors did brain scans on me because they thought I had a brain tumor--of course didn't find anything wrong. They couldn't figure anything out--so my parents started taking me to chiropractors. I was able to virtually eliminate them with chiropractic help many times within 45 minutes to an hour after an adjustment. I also discovered that certain types of chocolate, malt mix brought them on. I have also eliminated caffeine. About six years ago I had neck surgery to rebuild vertebrae in my neck.... " knock-on-wood " I haven't had a migraine in several years!! Don't give up--I know of others who have used acupuncture with great results too. Crock
Guest guest
I tend to think that is onto something. I find with my own physical state and my exercise, if I overdo or focus on one thing I can feel it. I get headaches when that thing forces me to look differently to a " normal " plane of vision. Good luck everyone! Donna
