Hi Everyone:

Thanks for allowing me to participate in your forum. I'm Lori Garvey

and I work for an agency that is helping the Charcot-Marie-Tooth

Association (CMTA) (www.cmtinfo.org) with public relations. In

general, we want to work with the media (print, radio, TV) to raise

awareness of CMT across the U.S. Specifically, we want to promote

this new CMTA Strategy to Accelerate Research (STAR) so that our

efforts help raise the much needed funds to support this exciting

research initiative. STAR seeks to have treatments for CMT within 3

years and a cure within 10 years (For more information, visit their

website [www.cmtinfo.org]. You can read the press packet information

located in the Media Room on the CMTA website)

The media is interested in raising awareness of CMT and they want to

hear from patients. They want to know YOUR story. That's where you

come in. I need people who are interested in talking to the media to

turn to.

If you or your family member(s) have or are affected by CMT and would

like to be included on our Patient Advocate Contact List, I would

like to hear from you. Ideally, we would like to have people from all

age groups, genders, and races/ethnicities. If interested, I will

call and tell you more about our activities and get some information

from you. If the media asks me (and they do) for a patient from a

specific area, we'll have the resources to answer them. You will be

contacted by me or a member of our team first if an opportunity

arises and you will have the choice to do an interview or decline.

Your participation is entirely voluntary and your information is

secure.

For example, interview opportunities exist right now in polis,

MD; Cleveland, OH; Asbury, NJ, and a number of towns around Detroit,

MI. This is only the tip of the iceberg! If you are interested, or

just want some more information, feel free to contact me at

lgarvey@... or 412-381-5400 x107.

Patient advocacy works! Thanks for reading. I hope to hear from you.

Lori
