Guest guest
Hello all, I was diagnosed with CMT at the age of 6 and my parents tried hard to give me a normal child hood. I knew that something was not normal about me when I would trip and fall which seemed like for no apparent reason. As the disease progressed, in the eighth grade, I started wearing the AFOs to pick up my dropfoot when I walked. My parents encouraged me to work like every other teen did starting with my first job at 's at the age of 14. In school, I had a set of books there and at home, never had to take notes as the teacher provided a copy of them for me, had a elevator pass, special pencil grips for writing, IEP's, Special Education Inclusion (meaning I was being taught regular education but was considered special ed due to the accomodations that I was recieving). And a host of many other accomodations that were obvious to my friends that I was reluctant to explain. In 2003, my first attempt to be awarded SSI and SSDI was not successful. It was denied and I did not appeal because I figured if the disability examiner said I could work, then I believe that I could work. In 2006, I applied for benefits again but this time had more diagnosis to add and I really believe that I am disabled right along with a several other people. When I applied, for CMT, and panic and anxiety disorder, back pain, they denied me. Since then, I was diagnosed with major depression, insomnia, urinary incontenence, chronic constipation. I worked since 14 years old until 22 years old and waiting of hearing date for decision. If anyone has any tips for winning my case for disability, PLEASE HELP ME.................
