Guest guest
My son who has CMT 1A has bowel problems but they are just the opposite of what your daughter has. He has difficulty going. I have been round and round with the MDA dr and his GI dr. The MDA dr told me that his bowel problem is NOT associated with CMT & the GI dr told me that it could be. I'm also curious as to if anyone has had problems in this area.

Guest guest
Sunshine, I had that problem because of the nightly pain medication I take (Nortriptylene). Constipation is a side effect. Since I have been taking a magnesium tablet daily I have not had any more bowel problems. Lyn

Guest guest
Hi, my name is Amy. I have not been on here in a while. I was very interested in what you wrote. My bowels have completely quit working. I have not been able to go on my own in 2 years. They tried all kinds of meds and everything else. Nothing ever worked. They told me it WAS because of my CMT. I am having problems with my bladder too. I can go a little but it don't completely empty. I have to catherize myself 3 to 4 times a day. I just thought I would let you know what my docs were saying. I hope you can find a cure for him. Sincerely, Amy Hoskins
Guest guest
Hello... Thanks for getting back to me.... My daughter is having a hard time controlling her bowels. In my case it is the other way around I don't have the urge and I take oils not having much luck with that. So what do you have do? My daughter also has a weak bladder and I do too...I'm in a wheel chair so when I do stand up I know I have to go..Now! Just things that have creeping us on my daughter and I...not happy that you have these problems but glad we aren't alone. My daughter will be going through some tests..in a few days..Keep us in your prayers! Blessings. Geri
Guest guest
Hi My son has bowel problems as well. He has both problems but mainly he can't go. He takes benefiber I put it in his drinks. He also takes 2 other meds (reglyn and bentnyl (sp)) which are for irritable bowel. He has also taken Miralax if needed.

Guest guest
A slow digestive system has been a problem for me since childhood, but as I reached my 40's, it became a serious issue. I've been taking Miralax every day for a few years now. It's the only thing I've found that works for me. I wish your daughter well with her tests this week. I hope they find an easy solution for her.
