Freeda vitamins (free of everything) are made to be easy to take by

young kids, breakable, absorbable, etc. The folks on Feingold really

like this brand. I saw about 15 different forms. happy hunting.

I use NOW brand ester-C capsules from health food store (cheap, and

it has the buffering so it doesn't irritate the stomach). You get a

little calcium in the ester-C type. The Ester-C doesn't have quite

the citric " bite " that the straight C has. Might be okay for

cooking. 90 capsules were $10 - 500mg C in each one, plus

bioflavonoids to help the C be absorbed.

Animal Parade has a good chewable too.

I know several of you are taking high doses of Vitamin C. Could you tell me what

brand you take and how many mg you started at, etc?

My body ecologist is skeptical about any type of supplement, but she said that

IF I decided to take it, it should be a whole food supplement.

Thanks!

Hi Amy,

All of my information would be in the Files and Archives.

I buy the GNC brand because that is what I can afford. I am sure they have

better brands. I can tolerate a large amount of Vitamin C.

Hi Amy!

I understand your doctor's concern about wanting to keep food supplements

'natural'.  However, when it comes to vitamin C, the situation is a little bit

different for us.

It's my understanding that the element that is specifically being studied in CMT

patients is Ascorbic Acid.  No esters, no rose hips, no L-Ascorbate, no natural

C.  Just basic Ascorbic Acid.

It's not proven to help yet, but if you are considering taken it, you may want

to consider the exact substance that is being researched.

Hope that helps!

Amy,

I put the Emergen-C powder in water. I don't take it everyday, but I do feel

better when I take it. It's 1000 mg. Eating a proper diet and taking supplements

is a big part in staying healthy. Good Luck.

Hi Amy,

I am taking the 1000 mg Sustained Release tablets from GNC and have almost from

the start. Overall the gains have been small and slow but steady. I know it

took me 20+ years to slowly get to where I was 3 years ago so I feel any

improvement is amazing.

Here's my semi-annual post.

FYI

My wife has been using Bronson powdered vitamin C for years (49A)...and I use it

some too. They provide a small plastic spoon which holds 1000 mg. A 1-pound

plastic bottle is only $17.83. The store where we get it (a small locally owned

drugstore) gives seniors a 10% discount off that.

My wife's doctor recommended this brand for her. She has lots of allergies and

this brand has few if any additives.
