Guest guest
, Try to explain the situation to your oldest son. He should know what he needs to do. Getting a college degree is critical in today's world. All kids, CMT or not, go through phases. Maybe he just didn't know what he wanted to major in or was having problems with classes. Have him talk with his advisor at school or I would be glad to talk to him. For your younger son, are you getting him help to try to overcome his problems? The school system should be able to help with his learning disabilities. Keep trying it's hard to be a parent these days, CMT or not. Guest guest
, Maybe your son in college just isn't sure what he wants to do yet. That is normal for a lot of college students. (I don't have one YET, my son is soon to be 7) but I used to be a college student and I met a lot of people who were unsure they were in the right field. Don't blame your genes. When he feels inspired by something he wants to do, then he will go back. Finding that perfect fit is more important. Dawn
Guest guest
Thanks Dawn I just hope his perfect fit is not standing on the corner with a homeless sign. Guest guest
, Sometimes it's better that individuals initially forgo college and enter the work a day world and become inspired by what they don't want to do. Suddenly Algebra 101 and Finance 101 become bearable. In much the same way most folks come to realize that they are probably not going to make it as a rock star, CMT forces one to take a good hard look at what they can reasonably do. Just choose a career path wisely and invest ones self totally. If you're not a total ass about it, there'll be adequate help along the way. But, you have to make yourself ready to seek out and accept the opportunity when it presents itself. It's easy to blame CMT because one failed to prepare. It's probably not wise to push someone with no real world experience and special needs into higher education unless they are motivated. It takes a ton of effort to produce minimal results, a stint wrapping fish for next minimum wage can be a great motivator. As far as blaming your genes? If they were perfectly healthy and performing in the same manner would you blame yourself then? You can't live their life for them, about all you can do is nudge in the right direction, everyone filters the world through their own view. Sorry but your only recourse is to grind your teeth and help pump up their ego and send them back out for another try. Guest guest
Bob, Yes we pay for tutoring on and off. I talked to his teacher last week and she said that they have so many kids in special education that shouldn't be there. She said a lot of the kids do not have learning disabilities and are just disruptive in regular class and they end up in special education. And of course they are still disrupting the class. She said she knows Adam needs help along with 3 others but due to the problem kids she can only spend a little time with them. At least she was honest. Guest guest
Really good advice Ed. I need to lay off. Its really hard to make someone go to school. At this point it will be easier to wait it out. Thank you
