Guest guest
, Maybe your AFOs were made wrong. I've had good ones and bad ones. Those boots you are talking about look like walking casts. I'm not sure anyone would wear them long term. If you are having probs with AFOs have you thought about metal braces? They serve the same purpose as the plastic braces. They attach to your shoes through channels in the heels of your shoes. There is very little skin contact. They are cooler in hot sticky weather. There is very little difference in weight. Ask your dr about you trying some metal braces. You can have several pairs of shoes to wear as the braces will attach through the channels in your heels. This might be what you are looking for, give it a try. Bob

The 'C' in CROW is for Charcot--I thought for sure people here would know about them. Maybe they're brand new. Anyway, my husband went to the Youngstown, Ohio CMT clinic today and will get new AFO's--this orthotist adjusted the old ones to hold up until the new ones are approved and fitted. What a great organization. And we learn constantly from this website. Thank you.

Good suggestion, thanks.
Guest guest
>, I think AFO's are great-the ones you mentioned look horrible and i wouldn't wear them. I wear ones that look like " trulife matrix " below are links to other examples of afo's. Go to this link page 14 and there are 3 examples of AFO's. I listed below the web sites to the afo's. Guest guest
I have invested in the Allard USA " Toe Off " foot orthosis for relief of weak muscles and " Drop Foot " . These devices are the best I have found because they do not hurt the bottom of the foot and they offer support to walking. The foot plate is made of a combination of Kevlar and Carbon fiber which make it strong and flexible according to the company literature. It slips under the inner sole of most shoes so your foot remains cushioned and not affected by the appliance. Check it out at http://www.allardusa.com/ and enjoy them as I do. > >, > I think AFO's are great-the ones you mentioned look horrible and i > wouldn't wear them.
