Guest guest
I so far have been the only member of my family with CMT and have been unable to have a positive genetic test, although I have been tested several times. My EMG and nerve biopsy point to CMT. Anyway, this is where I need some help. My sister who is 52 just went to a doctor to check out why she can't walk far. She shuffles her feet when she walks. She lives in another state and I nly see her every 2 years, so I have not been watching the progression. At the doctor, she learned she can not walk on her heels or her toes, cannot do a full squat and uses a railing when going up stairs. (all things that stared with my CMT 25 years ago) She had an MRI and a CAT scan. I had told her after the fact, since she did not tell me any of this was going on, that if the doctor had just done an EMG, she could have avoided the other tests. Anyway, the doctor left her a message that the results from the MRI and CAT scan came back and the results were too disturbing to discuss on the phone and that is all she knows until she can reach him tomorrow due to the holiday weekend. I know we are not doctors, but any ideas? Is it strange to have one member of a family with CMT and one with MS. What else could he have seen? I am worried and want to make sure she is going in the right direction. Jackie
