Guest guest
Hello everyone - my name is , and I was diagnosed at 17, now almost 32. I get around pretty well with Mitch's fancy Kevlar braces (Las Vegas Ortho). My symptoms have progressed to my hands and above my knees, but I'm very strong in all other ways and manage to live a fairly normal life with my darling husband and dog. Like most of you, I've learned how to manage this mostly on my own with help from various sources. But something strange has happened this past week, and I don't know if it is CMT related, or something totally different. Over the past several days, I've experienced marked numbness in ONLY MY RIGHT SIDE, mostly topical, in large patches from my toes up to the top of my head. It is more numb the further out (ie my foot is asleep), but I can also feel in in my tongue, mid back... There is no pain, no needles, nothing but basic numbness. It feels a lot like when your foot falls asleep (but before the tingling of " waking up " ) combined with that strange feeling of topical anesthia you get at the dentist. I haven't done anything different in terms of shoes, braces, exercise, etc, nor strained my back. Nothing has changed, except for these very un-CMT-like symptoms (at least in my experience). I have an appointment with a neurologist in two weeks, but I'm sure he'll know even less than I do about this. So I wanted to check in with all of you to see if you've ever experienced anything similiar or if there is anything you can tell me before my appointment. Thank you so much, and thank you all for creating and maintaining this forum. It is such a blessing. Take care, Los Angeles, CA
