Thank you, Kim... very interesting link on balance! I will give the one leg

exercises a try. Makes sense.

And " googling " a little from there, it also brought me indirectly to

this link:

http://golffitnessproducts.net/techniques-for-self-myofascial-

release.html that shows some mild self-myofascial release techniques

using a tennis ball or foam roll cushion.

Does anyone have experience with something similar related to

myofascial release?

It reminded me a little of the positive effects I feel after walking in

the sand, like you often share, Gretchen. I just did all of five

minutes a little while ago, to see what would happen, rolling on a

tennis ball to see what would happen, along calves/peroneals and

ankle, and I saw an immediate positive effect on my ankle tightness

after just those couple minutes. I guess it is the release of the

tension of the fascial tissue?

I roll a tennis ball daily, gently under the arch of my foot at the

recommendation of a PT a number of years ago, and that has always

helped -- but I never knew that it was probably a part of this

myofascial release as well.

I'd be interested to hear if others have tried any myofascial release.
