This is no surprise. When I was a child, my best "friend" was a troublemaker and kind of a psychic vampire. By that I mean you could be having a good time without causing trouble with other friends, then he would show up and everyone would go stupid. It was like his mere presence dampened your brain making it hard to think and it eroded one's common sense.

I fell prey to it a few times, even when I knew what was happening. Lots of others have too I'm sure.
