Guest guest
" I'm far more worried about Putin and this thugs. " They are indeed the bigger threat. I think the US has always been afraid of Russia and the former Soviet Union and has refused to engage them directly. We now have a few ships supplying Georgia, which puts us potentially in the firing line, but this does not send them much of a statement. Russia knows we are trying to show the world we are being bold, but in reality, they and the rest of the world know also that if we were truly bold we would have intervened militarily. " They have poked their finger in the West's eye and nothing has happened. " Yes, well, we have poked fingers in their eyes in Afghanistan and nothing has happened either. " They don't think anything WILL happen either than they are probably right. " Yep. " That area is getting dangerous and the Russians do have nukes. The question is, if they attack Poland, what are we going to do about it? If they drop a nuke in Poland or Eastern Europe, are we going to rick our cities getting nuked or an EMP strike that could put parts of the country back into the 1800's? " I doubt they would use nuclear weapons against any country except one of their former Soviet states. They still have designs on them surely, and I think on some level, given the primative and thuggish political nature of many of those countries, Europe still sees the countries as Soviet era inspired. It's why so few of these new countries have made it into the European Union or NATO. I can see them rolling their tanks into Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia again, but I think they would write off Poland, East Germany, and, for the time being, the Ukraine, because the land mass of the Ukraine is too vast for its rather deteriorated army to conquer swiftly. Poland has become to cherished by Europe for them to try anything there. The first countries they would reconquer are the ones Europe never really cared about to begin with.
