Steve, Your descriptions of symptoms sounds pretty similar to myself.

I take Cymbalta for the nerve pain and it helps a lot. I think it's similar

to the Lyrica though. It makes me spacey and sleepy, so I take it about 5pm.

Exercise has made a huge difference in the nerve pain in my feet. I aqua

jog, 3-4 times a week. Some days it feels like the bottoms of my feet are

being ripped off when I start, but long term I find that the nerve pain is

no longer severe since I started.

I also take vitamin E and that really seems to help for the nerve pain.

I started taking coenzyme Q10 and found that also helped. I was taking a

morning dose, and again when I went to bed. It also seemed to make me

restless at night, on the nights I'd forget the bedtime dose I was sleeping

much better. I stopped taking the evening dose.

I started getting spasms like you describe. Haven't had them in my legs

since I started aqua jogging, but my chest would get jerky when relaxing in

bed or watching TV. I started a new exercise in the water, and the spasms

got violent. I stopped the new exercise and went back to the gentle jerking.

This week, after an unpleasant night of jerking and twitiching, I added a

second dose of the coQ10 in the afternoon, with food. I've done it for 3

days now, and the spasms have reduced 10 fold.

Spoke to the doctor this morning and he thought that the coQ10 could be

beneficial, and recommended potassium as well. So I came home and ate a

banana.

Don't have enough time logged to really know if the coQ10 really helps with

the spasms or if they come and go with the phases of the moon. Good luck and

take care of your feet.
