Guest guest
Hi, What helps the burning sensations? I feel it more in Autumn. I feel it many places - behind my ears, parts of my arms, knee, even my scalp. I was prescribed Vioxx numerous years ago when I had the burning pain in one foot. I don't have a conclusive diagnosis of CMT. They assume mine could be a hereditary ataxia (Friedreich's Ataxia) or a rare Dejerine Sottas, very early onset. These disorders are not well followed in Southern Africa. I don't understand why I feel the burning pain more in Autumn and Winter and not as much in Summer. I also feel like I have a squashed nerve behind my one foot - just above the heel. I think that's called the achilles tendon. This is quite unpleasant and I have it in Summer too. It also has a burning sensation though a bit different to the others I experience. I don't know if this is related to my " drop feet " . Thanks in advance. Guest guest
I have had 'burning feet' off and on since childhood. What has helped me the the most has been Vitamin E and for awhile, a small amount of Amitriptyline. Cool lotions, cold water, ice, Biofreeze, massage, meditation all work for me too. I think once O mentioned CQ10 helps, but I haven't tried it. Supposedly Vitamin C helps too, but again, I'm not supplementing with that. There are also medications such as Neurontin (Gabepentin) and Lyrica for neuropathic pain. And yes, oddly enough my feet seem to burn more in the winter months, go figure. I've often thought because I'm wearing shoes more then. Take a look through our " Pain " File for more information. And search the Archives for previous posts on this too. Guest guest
Dear Lynn, Thank you so much for answering my post! I will indeed ask my doctor about Plaquenil. It would be wonderful to find a med that will stop my pain! I'm sorry about your husband and hope he is getting relief. My sister has RA in her back and suffers terribly. I told her about this list and hope she joins. Thanks again for telling me about the Plaquenil as I have never heard of it. Take care and God bless you. from Georgia
