Guest guest
Hi Grammerbob, Yes I also get W/C, and they have tried to prosecute me for fraud of all things, because I cared for my mentally retarded son! So I know exactly what you mean about feeling like a criminal. We are trying to make a settlement with W/C, and then I am considering maybe going back to school for a little higher degree. That would allow me to teach Nursing, as I have been told by all the doctors I cannot return to clinical practice. Thanks for sharing your story. Guest guest
You didn't say much about the workers comp. This is where my social security disability is being held up. I and my attorney have sent fax's and I personally have taken papers to them showing I'm not getting workmans comp and it is still in backlog. Chris SSA Just read the message from NURSEDON, It took me a little over 3 years to get my SSA & SSI also. It was very trying, I had to hire a paralegal, & go to the SS office constantly with copy's of this & that. Then they even lost some of my things, so deja vu! What really closed the deal was the Psych. consult. & the Minnesota something test they gave me,didn't have to even go to court, but it cost me about 25% of my settlement. What was really the pits was Workers Comp. 6 years! And they tried to make me look like a criminal. Well any way, I hope you find this interesting. Guest guest
Call your newspaper, radio stations, local tv stations, and local politicians. Aggrevate the hell out of the SSI.

Guest guest
You may need a physical therapist to write, in detail, why you need these features. Your doctor's statement may have been too general or something. Guest guest
Apparently, so SSA is saying after Clinton's office demanded an answering, " various reasons " meant that because of the NYState buy-in program with Medicare, I'm losing my benefits. No one at SSA could explain to me further anything about the buy-in program and how it interferes with SSD. I called Medicare last night and they had never heard of this, so I filed a complaint with them. Has anyone EVER heard of this crap????? > > Gosh how I love the social security administration! > > I received my bank statement yesterday and - wow! - my SSD check was > never deposited!!!!!!! Guest guest
Yikes! That is terrible! I don't know anything about that kind of thing. I knew Alana would come through! Did you find out anything new? Aren't you moving here (to Cali) like this month?? Guest guest
Yes, Alana gave me some helpful information (thanks!) and I spoke with a Medicare supervisor and SSA worker on the phone today. They were very informative and directed me to the Medicaid dept to look into the QMB Program (where Medicaid pays your Medicare premiums - that's why they were taking my SSD away from me). Gosh I wish I were moving so soon. I've been struggling with my Section 8 transfer for the last two months. My county housing authority won't issue me a personal Section 8 certificate (since I receive it with a building certificate) and BHA will only accept an individual certificate. My bf and I have given up on the Section 8 bologna. We've decided that we can increase our rent limit and broaden our search by looking into places that are not exactly accessible but can easily be made accessible. I require few modifications and he's an engineer, so hopefully we'll find something soon. We've also applied to a low-income apartment complex for the disabled that is in the process of being built. They've requested my personal modifications but we won't know if we're going to be expecting a lease option or not for a while since applications are still being accepted. Since they're still in the process of building, they don't even expect a move-in date until February. We're really crossing our fingers on that one because it's income-based rent (and full rent is within our budget) and ADA compliant, just a block from where we were looking and 5 blocks from UC Berkeley. It's a gorgeous area. Not giving up hope... I'll be there before summer for sure. It's not so bad the other place fell through anyway. Now I get to spend the holidays at home with my family - and what's Channukah and Christmas without snow?! -Kendra > Yikes! That is terrible! I don't know anything about > that kind of thing. Guest guest
In the search for help with my son, I received this info from Senator Lugar. Congress and the Social Security Administration are well aware of the hardships facing many American families due to the length of the disability claims process. There were recently hearings held with the Senate Finance Committee to discuss the future of the Social Security disability program. Commissioner J. Astrue provided testimony before the Senate Finance Committee on May 23, 2007. You can read a copy of his testimony at http://www.ssa.gov/legislation/testimony_052307.htm, or a summary of the initiatives to eliminate the backlog of disability cases at http://www.ssa.gov/legislation/testimony_052307_addendum.htm.
