Guest guest
Hi, I have a question, my son was diagnosed with Delayed Gastric Emptying. I do realize that CMT isn't the cause of everything, but after reading up on it one of the the things that can cause it is nervous system diseases. Does anyone have this? If so any info on it would be appreciated. Thanks! Carmella
Guest guest
Carmella, Yup, boy do I feel like a whiner, but yes I have delayed gastric emptying, had GERD and hiatal hernia that was fixed with a Nissen Fundoplication (much recommended) and it seems to be a family theme that we all have some degree of irritable bowel disorder (IBD), which I have found to have a large psychological component -- occurs mostly when overwhelmed by input like grocery stores, clothing stores or libraries where there is so much to choose from, or in situations when you think you won't be able to find a bathroom. I have conquered most of my IBD moments through conditioning and being strategic in my decisions (library with a good private rest room, etc). The surgery was a huge help and I try to keep things moving by paying attention to getting the fiber in. Holli
Guest guest
Hi Holli, How long have you had DGE? How do you treat it? Will it ever go away? Thanks! Carmella
Guest guest
Carmella, I'm pretty sure all my life -- just one of those " slow nerve " things that have always been who I am. I don't treat it other than to try to pay attention to not filling up to much, not eating late, etc. It's never been a serious obstacle, just another thing to deal with. I did take Zelnorm for a while and that was amazing. I went off when I had the hiatal hernia fixed as that fixed most of my symptoms. I've read since that Zelnorm has it's own issues and I'm glad I'm not tethered to it. Holli
