Guest guest
The article I posted on SSA Compassion referred to a faster application process for SSDI who have 'end-stage' disabilities (death), such as ALS, cancer, etc. SSDI benefits are based on an individual's work record. SSI is based on economic need. Your husband should report the fraud because then the overpayment could be waived, if in fact, the fraud was found to be legitimate. If the overpayment is waived, he would be eligible for benefits, depending on what income level your household is at. He really should report the fraud, because it affects HIS benefits. SSDI and SSI were never intended to be a 'fulltime financial replacement package' that a person could live on. Living on SSDI and SSI is difficult. But people do it. Look our Files for the SSDI Folder and in that there is an article about " Tips to save money on SSDI or SSI benefits " . Perhaps some of our members will share some of their own tips for saving money. Gretchen
