Hello

Please forgive the duplication I did post this to another CMT website.

I posted to everyone that we were adopting and have since returned

from China with a cute little girl who turned 1 last week.

While there I had a breathing issue where my vocal cords seemed to

shut spontaneously for a few seconds. It scared the heck out of me

being so far from home.

On my return I went to Cleveland Clinic Foundation and had a sleep

study and yes I have sleep apnea 8 obstructive events, 43 hypoapneas

and for awhile during REM sleep my O2 went to 78%.

I saw a physician for my diapragm and it is slightly compromised but

still in good shape. I saw a vocal cord specialist who scoped my

throat and said I have vocal cord dysfunction. He said it would not

kill me and that I could control it with training. He also states

that if I have a severe attack (the worse case scenario) as soon as I

pass out my vocal cords will open and breathing will resume.

I notice that when I get emotional I feel a constriction in my throat. When I

try to exercise I also got the same sensation.

He was a prominent physician with a PHD at CCF and has tons of

photos and notes of stars and celebrities in the waiting area

thanking him for his expertese. He was not convinced it was CMT

related.

Does this sound correct?

Thanks

Tammy
