Guest guest
Hello Everyone! I have appreciated this group so much. We have very recently found out that several of my husband's family members have CMT. My little girl who is almost 7 has it also. She toe walks quite high and has very skinny legs. She suffers from leg pain quite often, but is amazing and still is running around and playing. We just finished our first visit with a neurologist. I got his name off of the CMT Association web- site. At first I was relieved with the visit because he acted like, " Oh yeah, she has CMT, but it's not a big deal. Just be leery of surgery, do exercises and we'll see you in a year. " Should I have gotten more from a neurologist or does the most help come from an orthopedic doctor? She is still struggling with her gait and she still has pain. I am nervous to choose an orthopedic doctor. Is it imperative that they understand CMT? Any insight on CMT and children would be most helpful. I wish you all the best! Jen
