Guest guest
Hi Jan, I am 40 and have CMT 1A and so do 3 of my children. You are so fortunate to have had such a mild form of CMT. A lot of kids with CMt don't get to experience walking without aids and it sounds like you have had several aid free years. My son has been in AFOS leg foot braces since he was four. Even with chemo you sound like you are still doing really well considering you have CMT and have had cancer. Oh My! I think you will like . We are always happy to have new members, we learn so much from each other on this list. Glad to have you here.
Guest guest
Welcome to the group Jan, I too have had CMT since child hood, am now 52. I've had the feet, back, hip, and hands done in my earlier years. Glad I did because they said I would be in a wheel chair by the age of 30 and I'm still going strong with a walker of course but still walking. (Exerise has helped alot) Out of seven of us six have signs of CMT. I decided not to have childern because my brothers and sisters kids all have some form of CMT. I just didn't feel I wanted to pass this on to more people. Don't get me wrong some times I wish I had children. I feel I missed out but still think it was a right choice for me. I could not think of going through any thing else besides CMT. You are a very strong person and I'm glad you have a good support group with your family. I'm sure our little group will help with any questions you may have. I know this group has helped with all my questions. Take care.
