Guest guest
Hello, I had ankle fusion in Wednesday (it is now Monday). I have a bottle of Percocet on the nightstand that was sent home with me after my overnight stay in the hospital - I haven't needed it since Friday. I am in a weird kind of cast - hard in spots and wrapped in an ACE bandage that'll I'll keep for a total of two (2) weeks. Then the stitches/staples come out. They I get a standard fiberglass cast for four (4) weeks and then a walking boot for another four(4) weeks. The doctor said my ankle was pretty messed up, saying he removed " boulders " . He needed to plate the ankle, so I'll have a little more permanent metal in my body than planned (screws were always part of the deal). So far so good, other than being bored here at home. I will probably go back to work in four weeks, confined to a desk and working my way back to 'normal'. BTW, if you get fusion, you won't need tendons moved. Guest guest
Spencer had the same cast. It allows your wound to drain and allows for some swelling room. After 2 weeks the doctor added the fiberglass to the weird cast by just wrapping it.
