Guest guest
Exercise is not contradinicated for persons with CMT, it is encouraged. Low impact, and gentle, such as swimming, easy biking, yoga, tai chi, pilates, chair exercise, for example. The point is NOT to overdue exercise. And this is diffferent for all of us. While I can workout in the pool 4-5 days a week with no problems, just benefits, others may not be able to. And I don't stay in the pool for more than one hour. It is important to have good body awareness and know when to stop. Working with a physical therapist can be helpful in this and also in starting a exercise program right for you. If you execise to the point of pain, stop, and cut back to what feels comfortable without incurring pain. Look through the Exercise file in our Files section for articles on CMT and exercise.
