A rose

I've been rather quiet the last few days because I've been helping my mother get her room at school squared away before summer and I've been doing some yard work. It has been touch and go so far because of the heat and dry weather, but I did have some results. I've posted a couple of pictures on the site. There are two of the rose because I'm not sure which one of the close ups looks better. It also doesn't show up as well in the long shot as it does in real life. My camera must be showing its age. There is also one looking toward the backyard. the upper part is maintained, but the lower part we leave wild since it is too much trouble to keep it all up.

We had a new roof and gutters put on a few years back. I need to get them both cleaned, which isn't easy because the gutters are pretty high off the ground, as is one part of the roof.

My yard man was by today and he gave me some tips for the plants. He doesn't do that kind of detail very much anymore because he has his hands full just keeping up with the bigger work like mowing and such. Still, he is going to trim the hedges next time he comes. He did say that my new azaleas and crepe mertyls looked better than most that he had seen, as far as new plantings went. Its a shame though that the rabbits ate most of the bulbs again. The few that survived look pretty good, though they haven't bloomed yet and one of them might not make it. A couple of the other things I'm not sure about either, but we'll have to wait and see about them.

I've also been busy these past few weeks.

EWe had a new roof and gutters put on the house and garage and new

windows put on the house. The garage had plastic gutters on it that my

dad and I put up about twenty years ago. I cut them up and made a

compost pile out of them. Then I spent a lot of time doing cleanup.

After that it was a drive up to Canada where Raven and I have been

working on the MIC project. Additionally, she was doing the sound

check for some musicians on Saturday and she ran a charity drive on

Sunday that raised funds for Alzhiemers and Myasthenia Gravis.

It will be more MIC promotion work today and over the next few days.
