Guest guest
Hi Ken and everyone on the list, A short note to introduce myself to the group as I am new here. My name is Jody and I am 42 and I live in Florida. I too suffer from chronic pain. I was in a terrible car accident, (are there any good accidents?) on 6/1/97 and as a result, my right foot was severed. Thanks (I think) to a good insurance policy the Drs. reattached it with 16 surgeries and about a half a million dollars. I am now able to walk and move my foot, and toes, and it looks good and sometimes it's even hard for another person to see the damage, but...it hurts. 24/7 and I take medication for it and it still hurts. So I am now realizing this pain is here to stay and I am learning to deal with it. I am currently in a chronic pain support group on the web and have found it nice 'talking' to other people that hurt too. I hadn't known anyone that had this type of pain before and through the web have found lots of people that hurt day to day too. The group I am in has dropped from 14 to 4, so I went looking for a new group and think this may be the one. Just the few posts that I have read, sound like topics I would talk about, and the rubber chicken thing, was great. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you in this forum. If you would like, please drop me a line with a short introduction of yourself, so I know who I am talking to. Jody

I have lived in Florida most of my life; am 56 [closer to 57]. I temporarily live with my parents in Tallahassee. My husband and I unexpectedly sold our house, bought a new one in Hendersoville, NC, and I will move there when I retire about 8/5. My chronic pain is from fibromyalgia and includes: chronic migraines and muscular pain, as well as chronic fatigue, panic and anxiety attacks, and IBS-D. No matter how one " gets " chronic pain, it is difficult to live with. Your's I can't even comprehend. Your courage in the face of all you had to deal with during the accident, surgeries and recovery is something I'm not sure I have. Please feel free to email any of us with whom you feel most comfortable. And, most importantly, use the group to vent, use a shoulder, chat, support [give and get]. All of us are here for you and each other. {{{and pain-free wishes}}} Carol

We each have our own " custom tailored hell " to live with and yet we always feel worse for the other guy. By the same token, the other guys probably feel worse for us. This could turn into a " lovefest " if we're not careful ! You have to admit that if this is what chronic pain does to people, maybe everyone should experience it ! I love being part of a group where everyone is so unselfish. It restores your faith in humankind. Thanks everyone, for everything.
