Guest guest
Hi Apexgrant, My son was recently diagnosed with something very similar. He was told that his stomach empties slower than normal. His main problem was vomiting on a regular basis and that is what got our attention that something was off. His gastro Doc said he didn't think it was CMT related. I may have to do some research myself after what your doc had to say. He was given pills to help and was told to eat slower. Unfortunately, he isn't doing either, but at 19 he knows everything. Have you thought of trying to graze throughout the day vs. eating once per day? Maybe try those fortified drinks like Ensure. Glad that you are supplementing what you are missing in your diet. Hope you continue to improve. Carmella
Guest guest
Hi apexgrant, I don't think CMT affecting the digestive tract is as rare as the literature makes it seem. I use stool softeners and laxatives when needed, and also take Protonix twice a day for reflux. I think if you can tolerate medication that would speed up the emptying of the stomach, that would help. Many years ago I suffered from acute duodenitis, which took the docs nearly a year to diagnose cause my presenting symptom was nausea, not pain. For months I felt like throwing up from the minute I got up in the morning til I went to bed. The thing that finally helped me was 'Propulsid, " which hurried the empyting of the stomach. That drug was banned, however, not long after I stopped taking it. Reglan is an excellent drug for emptying the stomach quicker; unfortunately, I can't take it cause I have a " dystonic " reaction to it (my neck muscles stopped working). The good thing about these forums is that you discover you are not an isolated case. let me know if you find something that works!
Guest guest
Some pain medications can slow the digestive track of anyone, CMT or not.

Additionally, you might want to make sure you are using a fiber pill or delayed laxative to ensure a daily " cleansing process " . Nicely worded for " BM " .
