Guest guest
Following reading the journal review of IMS (stimulation of a muscle to cause relaxation, using acupuncture needles) my physio and I decided that I should try it out, in particular to loosen off my the muscles around my shin (and behind my shin, where the attachment point runs along the tibia and under the foot - so a tight muscle can cause a pulled / high arch). The experience is NOT for those who do not like EMGs. I found that the needles not only stimulated my muscles but caused my nerves to fire like an EMG - shock like sensations from my calf to big toe, etc. I personally can tolerate the EMG so I had about 20 needles in each leg (a " medium dose " ) working on my shins, peroneals, and to a lesser extent calves. I am curious to feel the results which should become more obvious tomorrow. Right now though, I walked home (physical activity was not advised, but I did not feel too bad so walked anyway as she said if I felt ok to do it), and the first difference I feel is that my feet felt more relaxed. A lower arch sensation. Very strange! But pleasant. I shall report back tomorrow! Donna from London
