Guest guest
Hi Angie, Yes, it has been too long. Your Mom should start a new application. And file on line. Get the Disability Starter Kit, it will help you gather all the info you'll need. http://www.ssa.gov/disability/disability_starter_kits_adult_eng.htm The problem with many applications is that doctors say " X is disabled " . Well, it is not the doctor's job to say someone is disabled. Social Security has a very stringent set of rules, and a claimant must meet all qualifications, then SSA will determine if the person is 'disabled' according to their rules. If your Mom has problems with her docs not knowing CMT, perhaps she could see a doc at an MDA clinic. All SSA cares about is 'can you work or not'? If not, why? And that needs to be explained in the application, i.e., why you can no longer do your job (can't stand, can't lift, can't sit, walk, type, talk on phone, etc and the reasons why you can't do those tasks - like muscle spasms, tremors, atrophy in hands, etc.) Then all your medical files should back this up. Guest guest
Wow I have never heard of this. You need to appeal and while you are appealing see if you can apply for other benefits. SSI, SSDI
