We have always found the Monark 814 to be a very robust and easy to use (with

students) bicycle ergometer but I'm guessing you are writing from North America

so I dont know if it is available over there

Good luck

Performance lab questions

Hello,

I am new to this group, but this site was recommended to me by a

friend. I am a physician and also a adjuct professor at a small local

college. I teach kinesiology and exercise physiology. I am also the

director of a newly approved human perfomance lab on campus. I am

responsible for setting up this lab. The lab will be used for the

education of students, as well as the testing of local athletes, both

high school and college. I have purchased Korr Medical CardioCoach for

VO2 measurement and need to get a stationary bike and treadmill. I am

looking for suggestions for these pieces of equipment. We are not

training cyclists, so I don't think the ergometers with power

measurements are going to be needed, so I was thinking of something

like the Cycleops Comp 200E for the cycle and a Landice L7 for a

treadmill.

Hi there,

Most of the human performance labs I've seen here in the UK are provided

with Monark cycle ergometers but I'm not sure about the treadmills...

Yes, I am in the U.S.. Sorry to not include that information initially. I have

not seen the Monark treadmills, but that doesn't mean that they are not

available. I will look into that brand.

As far as the cycle ergometers, since we are not specifically training cyclists,

I didn't think that we needed to go with a dedicated ergometer, but more along

the lines of a stationary, adjustable spin bike, mostly to use to test those

individuals who are more comfortable testing that way rather than running, also

to give the students experience with testing from a bike. Thanks for the

responses so far.
