I LIVE IN WHARTON, ABOUT AN HOUR SW OF HOUSTON...JUST GOT BANDED MAY27, 11 DAYS AGO, AND HAVE LOST ABOUT 10 LBS SINCE THE SURGERY, AND AROUND 30 ALTOGETHER SINCE I STARTED THE PRE DIET...I WAS ON IT FOR 3 WEEKS BECAUSE I HAVE A HIGH BMI... THE FIRST COUPLE OF DAYS WAS ROUGH BUT I FEEL GREAT NOW...U MAY BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT BUT IT WILL PROBABLY BE UNCOMFORTABLE...U WILL HAVE ALOT OF BLOATING AND U WILL NEED TO WALK OFTEN TO PREVENT BLOOD CLOTS... SO THINK ABOUT IT CAREFULLY...CRYSTAL 5/27/06 400/365/150 --In , " punchie110 " <pamelabrown@...> wrote: > > Hi all!! Guest guest
Hi Pam and Debbie, I live in So. Calif and I had asked Nina this same question about driving myself. She said I could but I had to stop every hour or so to get out and walk. Personally, I am glad that I did not drive myself home. I was supposed to take the Amtrak home but instead decided to have my Husband pick me up in San Diego. I was a bit sore and I had very bad diarrhea so for me it worked out better. Maybe if you both decided to stay in San Diego for a couple days that would probably be better. Just to give your body a chance to recoup a bit. Take Care, Tammy I. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
You won't feel like driving that soon after surgery. I agree with Tammy I. Stay in San Diego or, see if you can make other arrangements to get home. I don't know if this surgery is considered " major " surgery but, it certainly isn't minor surgery. I never had much pain at all from my incisions but there were other issues, ie., fatigue, gas pain, stomach gurgling and turning and churning. Nothing was unbearable but it was uncomfortable. Don't downplay the surgery because it's laproscopic - it's still surgery and will take time to get back to normal. Hope this helps. Wish you both all the best. Guest guest
Gretchen Nicely done. I too know the dangers of alcohol, and thank God that I was able to walk away from that issue without any collateral damage. Fortunately I am able to enjoy a glass of wine or a beverage or two and stop. Constant pain drove me to abuse alcohol and Tylenol for years, and I had no idea why. Fortunately my diagnosis and proper medical attention changed everything for me. And yes, the drinking and driving routine is one that many people are very sloppy with, often times with horrendous results. We have one of the strictest DUI programs in the US, and the number of alcohol related fatalities have decreased dramatically over the past couple of years. Alcohol abuse is much more prevalent than most people realize, and takes a huge toll on the abuser as well as everyone around them. And, imbibing excessively with CMT is a huge mistake. It only makes matters much worse. Mark
Guest guest
Sorry, I wasn't clear there: I never drink and drive, but I walk unsteadily and people THINK I have been drinking. My friends know that I don't drink, but stangers approach me and ask me not to drive. Beata
