Guest guest
There is a ton to say on this subject, but one of the things I'll say right up front is that Atkins is not a high protein diet. It IS a high fat, controlled carbohydrate (low carb in the weight loss phase), moderate protein diet that encourages you to eat abundantly of whole foods, vegetables, and healthy fats (all fats except transfats) during all phases of the program. The only foods permanently eliminated are processed/refined grains, transfats, sugar, and sugar-like ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup. Anyone who thinks you don't eat any carbs, or don't eat any vegetables, just isn't doing their research. Much of this " debunking " is just debunking a straw man, ie, the imaginary Atkins plan. It has nothing to do with the REAL Atkins plan. I realize this article doesn't mention Atkins by name, but I wanted to say this anyway as it's what most people think of when they hear " low carb diet " or even " high protein diet.
