Guest guest
Probiotics What do you mean by a rotation diet? Peace, Kris , gardening in harmony with nature in northwest Ohio http://home.woh.rr.com/billkrisjohnson/ Upper abdominal bloatedness? I need help with a client who complains of constant burping and gaseous type of symptoms. He has some upper abdominal bloatedness going on, in fact that's where he holds the majority of his stomach. I haven't seen anything like this before. Any exercise that I perform where pressure is placed on his stomach he burps almost immediately. Now it sounds like heartburn to me because I know he rarely drinks water. He also eats out more than once a day at the same restaurant! Here's what I've suggested: 1. Rotation Diet 2. Drink half his body weight in ounces of water 3. Possibly a Colon cleanse 4. Eliminate all grains 5. Eat only organic foods Can anyone add something to the list? I just wanted to see if anyone has dealt with a individual such as this. Is there a diagnosis for these symptoms and should I refer him out? Is there a diagnosis for these >symptoms and should I refer him out? You might give him a celiac panel (IgA antigliadin antibodies, TTG, and a couple of others) or Dr. Fine's stool test. Upper intestinal bloating is probably most often caused by IgA allergies, usually to gluten. But eliminating " grains " doesn't always cure it because minute amounts can cause the problem and there is a lot of cross-contamination. They are just experimenting with diagnosing it via ultrasound ... the upper intestine becomes very enlarged, as does the gall bladder, and there is more intestinal fluid. It is a pretty common condition, but one of the least diagnosed (it actually made this month's Reader's Digest as one of the top 10 misdiagnosed conditions ...). The screening blood test is pretty cheap (about $15, I think). -- Heidi
