Guest guest
I think if I hear another doctor telling me that they're worried about me becoming addicted to the pain meds, I might just inflict some chronic pain on them so they can understand where I'm coming from! I get so aggravated with them. Woke up so many times last night from the pain and bad dreams, I'm not in the greatest of moods right now. Last time I eat macadamia nut and white chocolate cookies before bed!! Guest guest
AMEN to that!! I've felt this way several times, and have stopped with the thought. The problem as I see it is this: We come to a doctor who is very stingy about writing out meds, and then we almost have to beg to get the prescriptions. This must seem like a " sign " to them, but to us it's just a cry for help. How can we make this process easier? Any good ideas? I hate feeling like a " drug addict " just because I have to have my meds. I haven't asked for this situation, I haven't tried to " nurture " it in any way, so why should I be punished by doctors who can't feel my pain??! It's good to discuss this with you all! - -

I love it. But don't do it. Currently more support is being gained to make complaints, malpractice actions & such on the basis of being forced to endure unnecessary pain & suffering. It started with many oncologists (cancer specialists) challenging restrictions on them adequately medicating their patients who were in agony but not in a position to complain themselves because they were dying. What you could do is make complaints about doctors' poor treatment to county & state medical societies, and (very important) the state board of pharmacy where you live. State pharmacy boards are more & more taking the position of bringing doctors up on charges for under medication. And the response to complaints is immediate in most cases. The very next day you would see a stunned look on the doctor's face, and be treated very differently. Ken

Any good ideas? >I hate feeling like a " drug addict " just because I have to have my meds The first thing to do is to confront the issue with the doctor. You need to tell him/her that it is not something where one can take 2 aspirins & call him in the morning. If the doctor treats patients with severe chronic problems as if they should get over it & not need meds at some point, you do not have a doctor who can responsively treat you. Time to try another doc. I would even consider asking the present doc for a referral to someone equipped to treat you more responsively. (You have to do this with a straight face).
