Guest guest
Thanks , It sounds like you got off pretty easy. My main concern is this: The point of getting the hep b vaccine (supposedly) is to a) prevent me, a health care worker, from getting hep B from infected clients, and to prevent me, a potentially infected health care worker, from infecting other clients, especially since there is alot of contact with bodily fluids (universal precautions aside) in the baby-catching business. So I'm afraid that the authorities (whoever that may be) are going to say, it's one thing if I don't care if I get hep B, but they can't allow me to pass it on to other clients. It doesn't seem as though this was a concern in your case. Anyway, it is hopeful to hear of another professional escaping it.
Guest guest
Hey Lana, Welcome to you too!!! Are you in NY state? Shaye The Soap Shack www.mysoapshack.com I'm new too Sorry if this is a duplicate. Hi, I signed up a couple of days ago to this mailing list and have enjoyed reading the correspondence thus far. I have been researching soap making for a month or so and am just getting into the fun part of actually making it. I have a question for you all. Do you use any herbs or spices, flowers, etc. in your soaps? If so do you pick and prepare them yourselves? What is appropriate to use? And what is the best way to go about preparing such things? I just collected some sage today for this purpose but am not sure about preparations and actual usage of it. Guest guest
Hi Lana, I have used sage- it`s great in a shampoo bar. What I mostly use is calendula. I put it in alarge pot or crock pot, cover it witholive oil and heat it very low till the calendula gets alittl ecrispy- not burned. This makes a wonderful bar of soap. Guest guest
Hi guys-I make CP and herbal toiletries and preparations and yes you certainly can add neat and useful herbs, flowers etc. to your soaps. I would suggest you start by getting some great soapmaking books out there-Bob and I spend a lot of time at & Noble and you will get ides galore but it is useful to school yourself on the properties of herbs and what amounts to properly use first. you can start by just trying spices for instance in your soaps such as paprika for peach color or sage for olive green and petals such as calendula for some fun in your regular batches adding your scents to correspond. Do you do CP or M & P? Deb the country Artist > >
Guest guest
Thought I would pipe up after DJo gave her introduction. I am a mother of 3 (also homeschooling :-) I went the " yuck route " with my children, raising them as vegetarians and vegans until my oldest was 11 and youngest was 5. My daughter (middle child) suffered the most with chronic headaches, and a lot of colds. OH HOW I WISH I HAD KNOWN! It took about a year after eating meat for the headaches to become less regular. Things really improved with the introduction of raw goats milk. I still worry about the damage to their health. AND I haven't told you about my own bad health nightmare! I just found Nourishing Traditions: by Sally Fallon, G. Enig PhD. I am very glad to have found this book and this group. Thank you!
