What ever happened to equal compromise? Moreover, Heidi, what *are* " their terms " ? I talk about sex as indiscriminately as I talk about anything else, and I find that girls are much more open than guys to talking about sex, and I've never gotten the impression from girls I talk to or have dated that girls like sex less than guys, or like to have it less often. In fact, I think girls like and appreciate sex much more than most men, but that men are in the odd position of essentially having a physiological need for frequent ejaculation, so men are more likely to want sex all the time whether it's good or boring, while women will only want to have sex when it's good. I also disagree with Judith that we are " two different species. " I agree that there is a grain of truth in there, but I certainly think that there are many non-material turnons and turnoffs, and women *unquestionably* factor in looks-- the difference primarily being that girls can't be as picky because guys just don't put in the effort to look good, whereas women are under much more pressure to look good. Women are at least as likely as men to engage in casual sex, as far as I can tell (unless they feel they'll be stigmatized, in which case there as likely to want it but less likely to engage in it, which I think is a regional/cultural/generational/etc thing), and the decision must be in part based on looks. But on the other hand, a great many men pay more attention in sex to their own requirements without much attention to the women's, and perhaps a guy opening the door for you, pulling your chair out for you, cooking you dinner, making you feel special, etc, might give an indication as to how he behaves in the bedroom (or is that on the kitchen table? ;-) ) Chris

I think that I said I was basing it on personal experience and talking to people. I think part of it is geographic location. I live in New England, and we have a somewhat different demographic up here. We've got a lot more atheists and agnostics than the national average, and if I had to make a guess, I'd estimate that 95% of the population smokes pot and 85% are occasional LSD users based on the people I know around here (I don't mean my friends, I mean the dozens or hundreds of people I meet in all situations)-- and one very large town (city-sized, but with no charter) made an official resolution directing their police not to arrest people for marijuana possession (violating the Federal ban). So, the people I talk to might not represent the big picture. But I've never gotten the impression that women somehow like sex less than men or will engage in less sex or only want monogamy and serious relationships and all of that. Two different worlds. The romance novel guy (who has women climbing all over him) looks meaningfully into their eyes, gives her flowers or at least a glass of wine or puts the kids to bed while she has a hot bath with candles, rubs her back, listens to her complain about her day or gossip or whatever ... the typical hubby watches TV all night, then sneaks up behind his wife while she is washing dishes and has been on her feet all day and says " how 'bout it? " I really can't explain the difference, but I went out for lunch once with an Italian " romancer " and sheesh, that guy was DANGEROUS. Had me wrapped around his finger in 20 minutes. Whatever Bush is, he isn't a right winger <g> I could count/list the ways he is not, but this list has enough off topic stuff going <weg> On the other hand, I wonder what his sex life is like. I hope you aren't going to spend any money. B. I can't think about that right now. C. That's nice dear. D. Yeah, I remember your LAST great deal. E. I had a horrible day at work today. F. There is a football game on in an hour. G. Really? How much? Is it grassfed? H. I like chicken better. I.
