sprouts of nigella seeds :)

they're little black seeds used in a relatively small number of

cuisines, most famously in the panch phoron spice mix of Bengal,

which I enjoy quite a bit, but the sprouts are not only repulsive,

but the aftertaste is malignant for quite a while. Must be why I've

never seen a single reference to anyone else ever trying them... :)

Isn't nigella related to tobacco? If so, I can see why it would taste

nasty. ;)

Thanks, Mike. Just wondered as I had never heard of them.
