The one I have is just a big box of plywood with a wooden lid. I've also grown

them in trash cans. Really, you can grow them in anything. The horse

lady I talked to made big wood bins and just dumped the manure in ...

she made more boxes so she could handle all the manure.

Someone told me to put a layer of straw in, then manure, and let

the worms climb " up " as needed. In my bin, it is full of peat moss,

and I dig a hole with a gloved hand and dump garbage in, then

cover it.

The main reason for the box is to keep rats and cats out ...

You may not have that problem with manure (though the

chickens might get in to eat worms!). The boxes can be

any size, mine is a size I can open the lid pretty easily.

Not stupid at all. They can be hard to get. I got

them at our local hardware store, $12.00 for

a thousand. You can also attract them locally

by burying garbage ...

You can also take a bucket and a shovel and ask a local farmer if you may

dig around the edge his manure pile or sawdust pile.
