What are your definitions of intensity. Too often we argue at cross purposes

simply because of a miscommunication of meaning. Is intensity the right

word, just because an acronym has intensity in the word, what does this

mean. Lights have an intensity of incandescence, I doubt this is what is

meant. Can some one enlighten me :-)

Intensity to exercise or physical activity can be described as following:

It is the magnitude or density of power expressed or tension force created

during the performance of the exercise or activity.

It is that simple. The Highest Intensity would be a maximal effort to that

exercise or activity, such as a Rep Maximum performance in lifting, or a

Personal Best in the 100m sprint.

I am not a subscriber to the 1RM as being the " only " 100% Intensity School.

So I subscribe to ALL RM's as 100% intensity. (2RM, 4RM, 10RM, etc)

Additionally 100% Intensity is, and can only be expressed in the moment. It

is a performance to ability expression. .

It should also be established that we can apply " high intensity " to anything

from a partial rep or static application of force, all the way to any work

out, cycle of work outs, or for that matter any activity, where we can

establish that we have increased the magnitude or density of output to that

activity.
