Guest guest Posted January 11, 2008 Report Share Posted January 11, 2008 Hi Tony, I'd have to agree with Gordon. The Machine is useless if you're fair dinkum about your training. If you can't get to another gym; then use DB's. However you'll have to modify the lifts. Cleaning a DB is a glorified hammer curl. You can Snatch and Swing a DB similar to a Kettlebell, but even that is slightly different to the KB groove. Also you mentioned you recently started an exercise program for increased strength. Contrary to popular opinion the majority of trainees will not improve their limit strength with Olympic Lifts. The technicalities of the lifts restrict the ability to raise a heavy weight...relative to other movements. Ideally get strong with less technical lifts...presses, pulls, squats, body weight drills, etc... ...and stay clear of the Machine and most other machines for that matter, with the exception of the GHR and Reverse Hyper.
