Guest guest
Yesterday I tried my first batch of kefir. Actually, it was the third batch but the instructions I received with the grains said that the first few may have a strong yeasty smell and not to consume it. The first two were made with store milk. I got my first raw milk on Monday so my third batch was made with that. It turned out creamy and the taste was totally different from the sour taste of yogurt. The kefir today separated into curds and whey whereas yesterday it didn't. This batch is more sour than yesterdays although the time spent fermenting was the same. I tried it warm and cold and it was fine either way. I can't say I think it's great just yet but I'm hoping I will learn to love it. Some people say it's their favorite thing in the whole world. I obviously won't go that far but drinking it every day is something I can do. Hopefully, it will grow on me just like I hope the beet kvass will. As for the raw milk, I do love that. I haven't sat down and drank a glass of milk for years as I just didn't care for it but this is great and I've been drinking several glasses a day. I also started my first batch of kombucha yesterday but the instructions in NT say 7-10 days so I can't give a verdict on that until then.
