Guest guest
Hi Keryn I have taken Nuerontin. Last year I tried taking it in the 300mg pill. After the first day I noticed a marked benefit...relief of the nerve pain in my left hip and leg. After two days I was to go to two pills and then after another two day I was to go to three pills; Breakfast, midday, and bedtime. When I moved up to two pills per day I was Ok for one day and then on the second day I started having visual and perseption problems. I also started having more pain in other areas (arthritis) while still having a great deal of relief with nerve pain. I stopped taking the Neurontin but continued having problems for weeks. I recently have had an increase in pain that was so bad that I decided to try the Neurontin again...at a lesser dose...100 mgs. I took it for about 4 or 5 days and got a horrendous migraine that has lasted for a week. Also once again the arthritis in my back and neck got worse. But this time the Nerontin really ;hasn't helped with the nerve pain much. So I'm going to discontinue it again. Some people do get great pain relief when they take it and no side effects...but for me...I don't think it helps much. Good luck I hope you get alot of pain relief. Candy Neurontin and medical protocal question... Hi all J Well I went back to the chronic pain specialist today, who is treating my FMS. Oh the joys of only being 27 and having this.. but I digress J.. I saw this specialist for the first time a few weeks ago. Prior to seeing him, I was taking MASSIVE doses of Soma and Lorab only. For some odd reason I seem to have a pretty high tolerance for opiads, and I have no idea why. I have never smoked, done drugs, drank etc… When I saw my doc a few weeks ago for the first time, he started weaning me off the Lortab and Soma, and added BuSpar (an anti-anxiety drug… I do not feel like I needed one tho), and Elavil. As the Soma we were going week by week, the office called and asked me to come in today to see how we would proceed with my protocol. As my job had recently fired me due to my FMS, no prob in showing up today at least J Prior to initially seeing my new doc, I was already on the anti-depressant Celexa. I really like the drug, and so far he has kept me on that one J However, once I started taking the BuSpar I started having problems (it has recently been giving me massive night terrors and trouble sleeping of all things). We have had major weather fronts the past week, so all of my pain is pretty heightened anyhow. When I went today, my doctor decided to have me on the following. Celexa once a day at bedtime Neurontin 3X a day for pain (THIS ONE IS A NEW MED FOR ME) Soma (weaning me off right now.. should be done in around a week) Methodone 3 pills of 10mg each, twice a day Does anyone know if the Neurontin works at all? I certainly hope so, I mean I know it was initially made for epileptics? I don’t know anyone who takes it.. so I thought maybe someone on the list may be able to help me out? Does this protocol sound familiar to anyone? Also, anyone who does know about Neurontin… does it take a while to build up in ones system, or is it supposed to work immediately? I don’t know much about this med, and would appreciate any input. Please email me at english@... with any responses. I would truly appreciate ANY help J Thank you all sooooo much J Your guidance and kind words really means a lot to me!
