Michele:

How much calcium and magnesium are you getting? Typically muscle spasms

are from lack of calcium and/or magnesium (or maybe D that allows you

to use them). I take large doses of a cal/mag/D supplement, otherwise I

get all kinds of spasms (also called tetany). There has been some discussion

of this ... ground fermented bone, or whole dried anchovies, might be

a better source (or shrimp shells in kimchi) and I do anchovies and kimchi

also, but for myself it's pretty clear I don't absorb calcium well so I take

extra.

I use the cheap ones at Costco ... they work ...

Hi Heidi..according to the RDA's, I get from 100%-200% of minerals; I'm not

sure about magnesium, but calcium I range from 1200-2000 depending, but that

is nearly all from marinated or steamed greens, like kale, broccoli,

dandelions, etc. I don't know if the source matters. I haven't been taking

my prenatal though, since I started on CLO, didn't want to OD on Vitamin D.

I'm breasfeeding still, and have problems absorbing zinc due to a very

slowly healing leaky gut, which is why I was taking the prenatal to begin

with. Do you know of a good mineral supplement that combines them all? No

iron though.

Calcium from greens isn't always very absorbable. It might be if they

were fermented!

If you have absorption problems, it's not clear how much a person ABSORBS vs.

how much they take. I had to take a LOT of Cal/mag before the tetany went

away, and it comes back in 2 days if I stop the Cal/mag.

I use the Costco brand ... they have calcium by itself and magnesium by

itself, in BIG bottles for a very reasonable price.

Sure. And even better ... grind up some dried shrimp in the blender

and add it to the kimchi (use the shrimp that have shells attached)

for a great taste AND more calcium and other minerals. Calcium

and magnesium are more bioavailable when in an acidic medium,

so kimchi is, I think, a perfect way to get calcium.

What about some little fish? Are the shrimps " fishy " .? I love fish, but

shrimp are gross to me - well, strike that, I used to literally live on

shrimp cup o soup... they were 12 for a dollar back then on sale. Days gone

by. So I'll give the shrimp a go, and the kale in the kim chee. I did

Warrior Diet today, and I felt a bit faint, but otherwise I'm feeling better

digestion wise. I couldn't eat as much kale as usual, so I'm thinking I'll

juice 10 cups, eat 5 cups, maybe have some in kim chee. I couldn't do the

big 15 cup salad I normally pack in.

I don't think there is Costco here; I know it was in NY. We have Sams and

Walmart, LOL. I hate Walmart. I'll see if Costco has stuff online.

How do you fit 15 cups of salad into the body in the 1st place?

Aparantly the body will fit 4 cups of food normally

Warrior diet people seem to max around equivelend of 8 to 10 cups of food.

Chew throughly, and eat slowly. This is how I figure it....

It is 15 cups pre-marination, and after it shrinks to about 7 or 8. Kale is

like 50% water or more, so if you eat it over an hour, 1/2 of the 8 cups is

absorbed in the stomach as water. That only leaves 4 cups or so. :)

I can eat a lot though, salad wise. Fruit too. Four cups? Thats it? Whose

body? :)

That is average stomach size aparantly. Though cant see hwo they measure

that ?

Anyays chewing that kind of salad fro that amount of time. You must have

shark like jaw power.

Maybe this is why you are getting face spasms. ( seriously )

Face muscles just like others can get overworked.

Perhaps this has happened. Overtrained and now they are rebelling?

Maybe so. I just started eating kale every day again a couple months ago,

after I couldn't eat hard veggies for a while because of the holeyness(LGS).

How do you strech your face, besides yawning? I chew really well. Like I

have to brush after cause my teeth are bright green..... sexy, yes?

Per Heidi and Mike's suggestions I will use some itty shrimp/fish in my kim

chee. and start juicing some of my kale. Maybe that will help.

Green teeth are not :-)

You can pressure point the muscles ( point holding ) to get them to relax.

So they get time time out so to speak.

If enough pressure is applied with the jaw open it will constitute a minor

stretch

I buy the dried shrimp at the Korean store ... they are pretty

cheap that way. Tiny things. Then run them through the blender

with some water and chili to make my kimchi " sauce " . They add

a great flavor, which doesn't taste at all like cooked shrimp.

Probably does taste a lot like " shrimp cup o soup " . We had

a thread awhile back ... shrimp shells are full of good stuff,

and both shrimp and little fish are fed to animals as supplements.

I used dried anchovies too. My kimchi is getting more and

more seafood in it! Again, they are all ground up into

a sauce, so you don't have little fishy eyes staring at

you. However, the kimchi does not taste fishy.
