Guest guest
Someone asked about caffeine content a while back. Here's a real good chart because it shows black, white, and green teas as well as coffees and decaf: http://www.stashtea.com/caffeine.htm The average caffeine in a teabag of black tea is reported to be 40 to 50 mg. (the range is 25mg to 110mg) A typical recipe for KT would be 1-2 teabags for every liter/quart of tea. So, that would mean, 50-100 mg of caffeine per finished liter of KT. That would mean 13-25mg per 1/4 liter (~8 oz) of KT. That's not a lot of caffeine. Green and white teas have far less caffeine than that. So if you use green or white, or a mixture, the caffeine goes way down. Green tea = 8 to 30 mg. White tea = 6 to 25mg. Oolong tea = 12 to 55mg. Decaf tea = 1 to 4 mg. For anyone tuning in here that has been told you must use either green or black tea, here's the scoop: There are human cultures that only use green, and there are human cultures that only use black. Either is correct, and many people mix them. I use a mixture of organic teas: 1 part Irish Breakfast (a black tea blend), 1 part White Peony white tea, 2 parts Gunpowder green tea. People use all sorts of mixtures. hope this is useful. --V ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J. Muste
