OHMIGOSH....that is so funny and sad and strange all at the same time. This

is why I never did and never will use bottled/jar baby food/juice etc! Ok,

maybe this is not why I didn't then, but it is definitely added on to the

long this of reasons. Good grief.

Still shaking my head

I'm not suggesting this was the case here, but it occurs to me that

nothing would stop someone from staging food contamination to make

some big $$ off a food corporation. I can't think how a real case

could be distinguished from a fake one??

It's very sad people feed babies junk food like that anyway, but it's

no different than the SAD in general, so this is a pointless remark...

In other countries it might be a common practice to feed babies

whatever was in there!

The case of the syringe in the Coke (or was it Pepsi?) can turned out

to be fake. They company spokesperson said the cans move so fast

on the conveyer belt it is technically impossible for anything to get in ...

having seen some of those factories I tend to agree. I don't know how

they " broke " the case, but the guilty parties finally admitted to it.

I HAVE bought canned food where someone (in the store, presumably)

opened it and broke the seal before I bought it. That is dangerous ...

the jar I bought had mold on the lid. I don't think people pay enough

attention to the " seal " when they buy this stuff.

Hopefully in other countries they are smart enough to just mash up some

food and feed it to the kid. There are these little grinders you can bring

to the table and just grind up whatever it is you are serving. Traditionally,

the mother chews the food, spits it out then feeds it to the young'un ...

good idea, then if the food was spoiled she'd probably notice it.

Also a little pre-digested with adult enzymes/saliva. One commentator

said that is where " kissing " may have come from ... the mother " kissed " the

baby and put the food in his/her mouth, so we are wired to enjoy the

process.

OK, SOME of you will think that is gross ... but really,

when you think about breastfeeding ... or childbirth ...

obviously this process wasn't designed by squeamish folk.

BTW having women chew rice, then spit it out into a

container, was how they used to make rice beer ...

nothing like some good enzymes!
