I can't say about the other causes, but hair loss is one of those things that comes about with gluten intolerance, even in women. Alopecia. In that case, the hair does come back when the person goes on a GF diet. I suspect other food intolerances could cause the same problem ... in the case of gluten intolerance you have malabsorption (so there are vitamins and minerals lacking) and you have autoimminue issues (the body is attacking itself -- whcih causes low thyroid and other hormones, which also tends to cause hair loss). There's a lot of genetics involved too though ... Northern European males are pretty much the only male humans to have really big bushy beards, and they seem to have thinner head hair. Guest guest
According to Dr. Mercola, male hair loss may come from insulin resistance: http://www.mercola.com/2000/oct/22/baldness_insulin.htm ~ Fern Re: nutrition and hair on your head( or lack of ) > > >They all had LOTS of hair. Guest guest
This is interesting. Maybe I have some insulin resistance. I remember I was sent to a diabetic clinic once after having oats and honey for breakfast. They thought I was diabetic with initial tests but it turns out I wasn't. But I still had irregularities. _____ From: Fern [mailto:readnwrite@...] Sent: Monday, 23 February 2004 3:22 AM Subject: Re: nutrition and hair on your head( or lack of ) According to Dr. Mercola, male hair loss may come from insulin resistance: http://www.mercola.com/2000/oct/22/baldness_insulin.htm ~ Fern Re: nutrition and hair on your head( or lack of ) > > >They all had LOTS of hair. Guest guest
Mercola's research also makes me wonder. With all his knowledge. Has he reversed any of his imbalances/resistances ect to emit hair regrowth on himself? _____ From: Fern [mailto:readnwrite@...] Sent: Monday, 23 February 2004 3:22 AM Subject: Re: nutrition and hair on your head( or lack of ) According to Dr. Mercola, male hair loss may come from insulin resistance: http://www.mercola.com/2000/oct/22/baldness_insulin.htm ~ Fern Re: nutrition and hair on your head( or lack of ) > > >They all had LOTS of hair. Guest guest
Not to my knowledge. From what I remember he regrets not knowing this earlier, so he could have prevented it. But, that's not to say it couldn't happen. Do a search on his site for hair regrowth or hair growth and see what pops up. Seems to me he talked about that at one point. ~ Fern RE: nutrition and hair on your head( or lack of ) > Mercola's research also makes me wonder.
