" > Thanks for any input! > ------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally, I love it. I'm a 73 year old female, and I do a lot of really strenuous work with the local Blood Bank Mobile crews. I think that I'm the only volunteer strip and sealer in the 15+ counties that this CO. covers, and it is strenuous. I also do all my yard work, and am currently cutting down, one limb at a time, an over grown Albizzia tree in my back yard. By myself. I drink Kombucha all day, and have made some with Celestial Seasonings flavored teas for evenings, since they don't have caffeine. I keep a large, ice filled glass full of Ktea handy, and drink from it all day, constantly replenishing it with different flavors as I want. But I'm sure that even with the water I drink, I do drink more than a quart or two each day, and it doesn't hurt me. I like it. I don't intend to quit. And yes, my family always said that I have the digestion of a goat, and a vivid imagination and taste where foods are concerned. Hi JennMarie, For 'ironguts' like you and your daughter, and my husband and myself... well, the only limit is the availability of the brew and when we just can't squeeze any more of the liquid stuff in :-) One litre (quart) a day is considered a 'therapeutic' dose, but we drink mostly more than that .... Now, what is right for us 'iron-guts' people may not be advisable for those that have had serious health issues or need a lot of detoxing. It is always wise to start with small amounts and to increase as you feel you would like to drink it. Definitely NO terrible consequences at the end of it!! Kombucha is NOT a drug, but a balancing probiotic food, so you can rest assured. Guest guest
Gradually increase your intake, your body will tell you how much is too much for you. The amount good for you may not be the same amount that is optimal for your daughter or certainly for any of us. Pay attention to how your body responds and you will be able to answer your own questions in this area. I tend to drink rather large amounts, but then i go for periods with little or none. huggs zoe Friday, November 3, 2006, 10:11:24 AM, you wrote: I'm pretty new to kombucha and was wondering how much is too much. I started drinking just an ounce twice a day to make sure it didn't cause any problems. I don't have any digestive upset with it - I think I could drink as much as I want in that aspect (my husband always calls me " iron gut " ) but I don't want to go overboard. My teenage daughter (also an " iron-gut " ) also loves kombucha so I'd like to hear about any possible trouble from drinking more than a few ounces a day. Guest guest
The purpose of this list is to disseminate solid information and to develop ideas on " best practice " in the light of the growing body of knowledge. This is particularly important given the highly contradictory information that is out there on the net. I am told that in Europe a therapeutic level of KT is considered to be a liter/day. I do find that a quart a day is a great level for me. I have not always had that since I've been brewing due to supply issues, but I like to have that much. Some people drink more than that, some much less. It's really an individual thing. --V ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J. Guest guest
Hi EveryOne, Just goes to show you, everyone is different, although no one has actually died from drinking Kombucha! When introducing any new food or beverage to your body it is probably best to go slow, and in the case of Kombucha it is also helpful to drink plenty of water. Once that is accomplished you can increase the amount you are drinking gradually to whatever amount feels the best to you. Kombucha is a food, not a medicine and you can take it as you would any other food, according to how you feel. Listen to your body and be willing to change the amount of Kombucha, or anything else according to what you body tells you it needs.
