Hello all once more for this evening :)

Does anyone know how to prepare 'Tillandsia usneoides', aka 'Spanish Moss', as

say, a tea, or the best way? It is very abundant here in Florida, and many SE

States, and has been researched to provide a strong glucose and cholesterol

lowering effect with a substance abbreviated as HMG (3-hydroxy- 3methylglutaric

acid). Tillandsia is actually a Bromeliad epiphyte air plant, in the same

family as pineapple, and not a moss at all. It has been used as a non-toxic

therapy for diabetes and other problems by the more traditional/herbal Cajun

healers. Some supplements use Tillandsia as a chlorophyll source, too.

In some research online about it, describing how Tillandsia in a heavy

automobile traffic area, was found to be contaminated with heavy metals and

other harmful things.

The Tillandsia my parents asked me to remove (reduce) from their propery is on

the St. 's river, about half a mile from a small two lane, neighborhood

access road, which connects to a major, heavily used 4 or 6 lane San /SR 13

road here, about 3 miles away from their house, in Duval county/ville,

just North of St. s County. Do you think I should use this Tillandsia in

making tea to lower my glucose/cholesterol, or would it be also contaminated?

Thanks for your consideration,

M.
