To suggest that your method of preparing almonds is more lish than simply soaking and germinating them for a day or three with plain water and eating them slightly moist right out of the sprout container, is akin to suggesting you have discovered a convenient light source brighter than the sun. I remain steadfast in my disbelief. Perhaps, however, I will put my faith in science and test the matter someday. I have never bothered with nuts besides almonds or peanuts because these are the only two I know to germinate beautifully, although I have a copious supply of black walnuts in my backyard that I ought to master one day. (My one dabbling left my hands grotesquely stained for about two weeks.) I often do eat a single brazil nut at a time for the selenium, and for this quantity I haven't been compelled to invest the effort in the above methods. Note that selenium is so concentrated in brazil nuts that you could experience selenium toxicity if you ate a handful everyday. I'm sure an irregular handful here and there is completely harmless though. Mike SE Pennsylvania ps I'm guessing you're referring to the non-restrictive relative in there--it works for me! But of course I give praise to commas in such matters. I will take this juncture to apologize to the list for my infamous history of modificational labyrinthes, although I can't go so far as to announce any plans for a change in habits...
