I actually lost most of the weight before I even started a serious exercise regimen. My blood sugar swings were keeping me chained to excessive carb intake, so I simply cut out all the junk carbs (sugar, white flour, potatoes, chips, baked goods, etc.) Ultimately, I settled on a diet of mostly raw greens/veggies along with dairy and a ~6oz of meat per day. One or two slices per day of sprouted whole grain bread is almost the only grain I eat any more, and I have yet to reintroduce dried beans back into my diet (and I do like my beans: my Y2K food stash was 150 pounds of various organic beans).
