Guest guest
Hi and everyone, I'm sure you know this inside and out, but my late night reading as of late has been Enig's Know Your Fats and this struck me: Adrenal hormones in response to stress are made from cholesterol (which may be low in our kids already in terms of diet and I've been wondering if manufacture may also be low for some kids because of liver problems, etc). So it would seem to me that highly stressed kids would be using up a great deal of their cholesterol. Cholesterol is rate limiting for Vitamin D, so low cholesterol and mean low D, even if a kid was lucky enough to get sufficient UB rays, not likely in the UK for many months of the year. Low vitamin D levels leads to greater stress, which means more strain on the adrenals and the cholesterol supply. It's another of those vicious circles that so many of our kids get caught into. Old news to you, but that circle became clear in my mind yesterday. Probably just as well I wrote it down because I'll probably forget in a month's time :-) Anita
