Guest guest
> drywall, joint compound, and paint really stink the house up. ----> that's one area I don't know what options are available as we have only added one small wall. I used Pittsburg Pure Preformance mixed to martha sterwart colors. Somewhere in all my reading I saw Pure Performance was a good compromise. It still smelled though. We closed up the rooms and moved in the air filters for a week. But I know it will continue to outgass for a long while. If i did it again I'd use Safecoat on ceilings and everything else except where I was really addicted to the color I wanted. Some of the worse culprits in a new house though are new carpets and cabinets. Lots of outgassing stuff that's just plain garbage for your body. Check out this The Healthy House by Bowers ...it is a very detailed account of each part of a house and what it gives off with traditional building supplies. His wife got very sick with multiple chemical sensitivities after they spent a few years lovingly renovating an old house. He started this organization to help other: http://www.hhinst.com/ Another good place is http://oikos.com/index.lasso I've also seen a book on remolding with green and safe components. I don't know if it's any good. here's the link to the institute I'm using to learn more from: http://www.bau-biologieusa.com/ The owner of healthhome.com is certified through these people. > and say something like, " oh that's xyz's plant, they must be making > abc chemical this morning. " And that plant is several miles off the > highway! Ack! --->Yeah it's frustrating isn't it. I will post a interactive US map that allows one to see all the pollutants and concentrations in thier county. Our's is horrible and we hope to move when I retire. > On an unrelated note, you mentioned you had a fibroid removed. ----> I went because of a yeast problem and they told me i might be pregnant because of the size of my uterus??? That wouldn't have been possible as I hadn't dated a soul in forever....I am Catholic however so... LOL ???? I had no idea except my periods were heavy ..real heavy. But I heard that happened in perimenopause so I wasn't all that concerned. Plus I'm always lazy about the doctors. I didn't go mainstream ....I went straight to one of the best alternative MDs in Atlanta. This was maybe 6 years ago and raw vegan was really the thing. He put me on herbal formulas, supplements and a mostly vegetarian diet plus some other stuff...one of which had soy. I then decided to up it and really began to eat lots more soy...like protien powder, soy milk etc. I even had a book on cooking with soy for your hormones! I'm fairly bright but I have moments of absolute stupidity in life. Within 5-6 months I could feel see it when I lay flat on my back plus my periods were now a nightmare. I got more second opinions and the decision was if I didn't do something immediately I would probably need a hysterectomy. Within 2 weeks I made the decision for surgery. I teach so I had the sick leave and good insurance so the decision was fairly easy. Plus I have a very good doctor friend who was counseling me to do this. Now I would never ever consider this until I had done way more research and tried way more options. Plus I am totally convinced the soy sped things up tremendously. > fibroids/endometriosis etc? I recently had a really strange and > gross experience and I'd like to describe it to someone who has done > more reading about fibroids/endo than I have and get some opinions > before I go to the mainstream gyn. ----> sure send me an email if you want more privacy. I did tons of research on fibroids but it was 6 years ago. Funny I never came across weston price I was very focused on vegetarian as the be all and cure all. It took my teeth and bones going bad to get me to invistigate further. BTW....are you a math teacher? I saw you post about a test and not being able to take watching suffering anymore..LOL I teach high school biology in an inner city alternative school. I have been for 23 years. Take care, Lynn
